Born in Harrogate and brought up in North Yorkshire, I have always been close to the countryside and appreciated its natural beauty. From an early age my family included animals of all types, from pets to livestock and I developed a particular passion for Dogs and Horses.
From there I gained an understanding of how much animals can enrich your life, this combined with my mother’s considerable artistic talent, helped to give me a working knowledge of their physiology and anatomy. My earliest artistic memory was drawing my sister’s toy horse at around the age of five, I later moved on to other animals and people as a teenager.
They say your first instinct is always the right one and in retrospect, after a few attempts to toe the “nine to five” line, it is only now in my late twenties that I have realized that those early steps were the true shape of my future. Regardless of how many people cause you to question your dreams, with self-belief and the support of loved ones, anything is possible.
Now living in Otley - a hop across the border into West Yorkshire, I have a thriving business revolving around animal portraits, home portraits and contemporary artwork.
The most important part of my portraiture is to truly capture the unique aspect of your cherished pet or family home. The aim of my contemporary work is to create an individual piece of art that will both compliment and enhance a room, space or colour scheme of your choice. The gratifying comments that I receive when I achieve these goals are extremely rewarding and provide continual inspiration and motivation.
